Day Three - Part Two - George Strait

As I suspect will become a necessary tradition day three's blog is a two parter.  Ideally blogging would take place on the day but I could barely find the computer let alone type coherently when I got in at circa 3:03am.

Following our return from the circuit we arrived at the hotel to find Eric waiting for us in the lobby, this was great because he was carrying important supplies:

Oh and it was good to see him and stuff.  As far as I know Eric has never played for the Cambourne Exiles yet was savvy enough to choose the team's signature scent, this is good news as assuming I can get it home the bottle of shower gel should last the team well into the 2021 season.

The evening started with a trip to a new part of Austin called 'Rainy' which is a street where all the householders have had the good sense to convert their homes into bars, I am not sure where they live now but didn't spend too much time worrying about it.  We dined in a German sausage themed bar, I usually try to avoid puns but in this case I will make an exception and say it was not the wurst place I have eaten.  We also found a bar which contained a slide for travelling between levels.   One electric taxi ride later we ended up at our old favourite Pete's duelling (or dueling as they call it here) piano bar:

The premise for Pete's is there are two pianists who will play requests in exchange for cash, the result is typically an evening of sing along favourites coupled with some college marching songs that only Americans know about, those are usually a good time to pop to the loo or go outside for some fresh air or a cigar.  They also played the one hit of country artiste George Strait, hence the blog title.

In place of the more traditional kebab the evening finished with Chris managing to secure a pizza the size of a dustbin lid which provided an excellent stomach lining for the taxi ride home.  I mention taxis as that is how most of us returned to the hotel, others (Eric and Pete) took the more practical option of a bicycle rickshaw, a perfect way to travel and see the sights as long as you don't mind arriving at your destination twenty minutes after everyone else.

Not a great deal else to report from yesterday evening other than Alistair's snoring which I had hoped would abate after half an hour or so, however not such luck six hours later it is showing no signs of stopping.

More regular blog readers will know that I previously promised the trip would feature pun based breakfasts, well the wait is over:

I just hope it was worth it.  Off for an Old Spice shower now before returning to the circuit for the day's motorsport based action.
