Day Seven - Phil Collins - One More Night

We had no plans but it was the penultimate day of our holiday so it was vital we got off to a strong start.  This strong start mainly involved watching a good few episodes of "The Office - An American Workplace."  For those who are unfamiliar with this series it is the US version of "The Office" but can be considered inspired by rather than a remake of.  It's great.

Once we managed to stop we set off for a local shopping mall to pick up a few items.  In my case new pants and jeans.  The latter being particularly important as I was down to a single pair.  I also enjoyed looking for some new shoes and spotted the following, but sadly they didn't have a pair in my size.:

Once again Nashville was a total let down when it came to breakfast, despite arriving well before the normal breakfast curfew of 11:00AM not one of the many restaurants was able to serve breakfast.  This was a terrible situation only made better by the fact I could have a cheesburger for breakfast without fear of criticism.  It was delicious.

Shopping was quite successful, although the size of the mall made it pretty exhausting.  I think I walked over 8 miles and only went round twice.  Then it was time to nip home for a quick change before the day's main event.  An evening at Nashville's famous Grand Old Opry for the Friday night show.

The Grand Old Opry is a Nashville tradition and the world's longest running radio show, it is where almost every big name in country music got his or her break.  Before we could head in to the theater we had to pose for a picture:

Gelfie - (Grand Old Opry Selfie)
Thanks to mum being organised we had really really good seats, more or less stage side but enough rows back to avoid being sweated on by any over energetic singers.  The format for the show is four half hour shows which are all recorded for syndication national AM radio and Sirius XM Satellite radio.  Each show has a host act and two guest acts so includes about 5 songs.  Despite not having heard of any of the acts or songs it was a fantastic evening and based on the response from the audience we possibly should have done a bit more Country and Western homework.

Following on from the show we drove home through the ghetto (on closer inspection it seems it is not only the route to the local shop that is a bit ropey, there is a chance we are surrounded.)  then enjoyed a few more episodes of the office before bed.

Sorry the blog is not so interesting today but that is only because we basically went to some shops.  I am sure tomorrow when we (finally) get to the Dukes of Hazzard museum will be better or at least have more Dukes of Hazzard in it.
