Wales - Day Tri

The third day of the weekend away is a difficult blog to write as it mainly involved driving from Wales to Cambourne, which is not necessarily the most interesting way to spend a day.  Therefore I am going to use to today's post as a way of reflecting on the things I have learned over the weekend as well as describing the journey in excessive and excruciating detail. The group managed to meet for breakfast at more or less the target time of 09:15 which was quite a surprise given the previous evening's goings on.  The hotel breakfast was really rather good, in particular the cooked offering was well above average and crucially included black pudding.  The only thing that really let the restaurant down was a laissez faire attitude to jam delivery which was insulting to both its jam suppliers and customers. "jam hot" More observant readers will already be fuming as a result of the above image, but for those of you who are not so keen eyed what the picture shows i

Wales - Day Dau

Wales are not noted as a nation of innovators, at least that was my opinion until yesterday afternoon.  When faced with the perennial challenge of a busy bar packed with thirsty Rugby fans in place of testing everyone's beer management skills by making them carry two single pints top Welsh scientists instead adapted technology first developed as part of the space shuttle programme and invented this....... "science in action" No photoshop involved, the future is here now and its name is the two pint pint glass.  This transformed the lives of millions of Rugby fans enabling them to stay hydrated in the run up to the big game. Other good things about Wales include a massive curry and loads of beer for only £25 per head, which left enough change from £30 to pay the £3.50 taxi fare.   That is not a typo, a fairly lengthy taxi ride was £3.50!  One of the drivers thought he was pulling a fast one by asking for £5.50, joke remained on him. Prior to the game we head

2018 was a slow year for readers of my travelogue blog.  Chiefly because I didn't really go anywhere.  Luckily 2019 is shaping up to be a bit more active starting with the annual trip to an away 6 nations match.  This year the gang visit Cardiff to see if England can maintain their stunning start to the 2019 tournament. Given last year's train trip to Paris was unlikely to be bettered (  SEE HERE  ) it was decided that we should employ a different mode of transport.  Thus I found myself up early this morning  (7:07) to collect a mini-bus which Craig's company was kindly lending us.  So far I have driven it a few miles (to the pub of course) and my main observation is it smells of builders. By the time I return it I expect it to mainly smell of booze / yorkie bars.  The trip starts at 1:11PM today when I pick up the Cambourne passengers before heading to Cardiff via a few stopping points hopefully including KFC.  The rest of the group have busied themselves collecting bo
